Recent involvement in the community include: Celebrating Successes: Masterpieces in the Making - May 2008 Communities In Schools of North Texas (CISNT), a dropout prevention and intervention organization that connects kids, many who are at risk of dropping out of school, with community and individual resources, held their annual fundraiser, Celebrating Successes: Masterpieces in the Making on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at the Omni Dallas Hotel at Park West. The evening highlights included a silent auction, gourmet food, casino games, a live jazz band, and a CISNT Gallery of Successes. With support from ViewPoint Bank as the exclusive Valet Sponsor and over 200 guests in attendance, CISNT raised nearly $50,000. CISNT also recognized their Presidential Award Winners: Advocate of the Year–Texas State Representative Myra Crownover; Educator of the Year–Laura Massey; Volunteer of the Year–Richard Huckaby; Community Partner of the Year–The Village Church; and Business Partner of the Year–General Electric. CISNT, a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization, is focused on bringing the vast resources of the community to students who are at-risk of dropping out of school through intensive case management and strategic volunteer mentor and student resource deployment. Meadows Health and Rehab Center -December 2007 View Point Bank and Senior Housing Crime Prevention held an awards ceremony benefiting Meadows Health and Rehab Center. The Bank sponsors a crime prevention program for residents of nursing homes in a low income neighborhood.
PISD Education Foundation Grant Awardee - November 2007 ViewPoint Bank awarded the Plano Independent School District a grant to fund their Educator Programs which include AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination), a program targeted to fourth through twelfth grades to prepare students in the academic middle for four-year college eligibility. It has a proven track record in bringing out the best in students, and helps them learn organizational skills, good study habits and how to incorporate critical thinking and higher level reading strategies into their studies.
Identity Theft Seminar at Plano Central -October 2007 In partnership with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), ViewPoint Bank hosted a workshop about ID theft. Guest speaker, Tom Carter, Sr. Attorney in FTC's SW Regional Office, led a discussion on how the FTC works with other agencies to protect your identity, how to prevent ID theft and the steps to take when it happens.
Get Smart About Credit Day - October 2007 ViewPoint Bank participated in ABA's "Get Smart About Credit Day", a national initiative to educate youth and adults about credit. ViewPoint employees presented financial workshops across the city to more than 170 people.
Homeownership Preservation Workshop - June 2007 North Texas leads the state in foreclosures! In partnership with the HOPE Coalition and the City of Plano, ViewPoint Bank hosted an informative workshop to provide homebuyers with important information and resources to help them better understand the options available to resolve mortgage delinquency.
Habitat for Humanity - 2006 and 2007 Several ViewPoint Bank employees volunteered to build houses for low income families in North Texas.
